SILVER BELLS

without too much effort,
the ever growing collection
of hotel silver and silver plate expands ...

it started quite by accident
and has evolved into one of my favorite things around this old farmhouse ...

on this crisp cold winter-like morning ...
thought I host a little
silver tour ...

lids ... I love lonely, mismatched lids .... almost as much as the piece itself.
they're everywhere ... for just pennies ... usually the thrift shop or the
dealer just wants to be rid of them ...
they find refuge on my shelf!

small hotel thermos
in the summertime we carry it outdoors with us ...
saves running in and out for more coffee ...

usually the hotel silver is marked ...
the name of the hotel, etc.

in many cases the words are worn beyond reading ...
however,
this lovely creamer
clearly boasts
"The Edgewater Beach Hotel"
Chicago

the creamers' loyal mate
the sugar
... all pitted and patina-ed ...
also claims
The "Edgewater Beach Hotel" ...

be still my heart
off in the distance I think
I hear
Silver Bells

have a beautiful new week ...
enjoy the season
